Our Future Vision & Strategic Goals

Since its humble beginnings, ECF’s Education & Development Program (EDP) in Aleltu has made remarkable strides. We surpassed our initial target of enrolling 1,000 children by 2020 to 1,600 and have since fostered meaningful development and sustainable behavioral change within surrounding communities. As we look to the future, ECF is committed to expanding its impact by enrolling more children each year and deepening community engagement. Our strategic priorities reflect a long-term vision of sustainability, empowerment, and holistic development. Key focus areas include:

1. Child Sponsorships
To meet the growing needs of the Aleltu program, individual and corporate sponsorships are essential. Child sponsorship is the most direct and accessible way to make a lasting impact. For US$45 per month or US$540 per year, sponsors can provide a child with access to food, education, healthcare, and other essential needs. Sponsors also have the opportunity to build a personal connection with the child they support through regular correspondence.

2. Building an Endowment Fund
To ensure long-term sustainability, ECF aims to establish a US$2.5 million endowment fund. This fund will help cover core operational costs and secure the future of ECF Village as a hub for education, community development, and innovation. We invite philanthropists, foundations, and businesses to support this legacy-building initiative.

3. Expanding On-Site Resource Generation
ECF currently engages in agricultural and dairy production to support its programs. To strengthen self-reliance, we plan to expand into new ventures such as milling, honey and poultry production, weaving, and pottery. We seek strategic partners and investors to help develop these income-generating activities, which also serve as vocational training opportunities for youth and families.

4. Local Economic Development Program
Empowering the surrounding rural and peri-urban communities is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty. ECF aims to launch a small business development program that includes microenterprise support, literacy, and life skills training. We are actively seeking strategic partnerships to co-create this initiative and generate lasting economic opportunities for families in Aleltu.

5. Reproductive & Community Health Initiatives
With support from USAID and the local community, ECF has led HIV/AIDS prevention programs focused on youth through innovative peer education, theater, and workshops. Building on this foundation, we aim to expand our health outreach to include primary healthcare services in reproductive, respiratory, and intestinal health. ECF is seeking a major healthcare partner to help scale this critical area of work.
Through these efforts, ECF continues to drive sustainable change—anchored in community, committed to children, and guided by a clear vision for a better future.
